£56m Euro lottery jackpot claimed by British winner whilst UK draw hauls in £4.7m winner!
The biggest lottery prize in Britain’s history was this weekend collected by a lucky winner. The winning ticket worth a whopping £56million was won by a UK ticket holder. Who the winner is and from where exactly the ticket was purchased is not clearly known but according to the spokesman of the National Lottery, the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday was claimed yesterday. However it is possible that the winning ticket could have been bought by a syndicate.
A ticket holder in Britain and another in Spain shared the £112 million prize money while the winner from the UK won the mega prize of £56,008,113. Millions of punters from Europe have done wonders just to get a piece of the huge jackpot. However the second lucky winner could also be a Britain according to a report. The Mirror reported that the second winner could be an expat residing in Spain which means Friday’s jackpot could be a clean sweep by Britons.
The top guns at EuroMillions know for sure that the winning ticket was purchased at Majorca which is a small town by the seaside in South of Spain. This is where more than half of its people are British. The winner however has not come forward to claim his prize. Once the winning tickets are confirmed it is very likely that the payout will be made tomorrow once the banks open. The winner can then decide if he wants to make his winning known to the public.
According to the National Lottery rich list, Friday’s winner now holds the first place while the second place is jointly held by Les Scadding and his wife Sam from South Wales and Liverpool’s Lucky-Seven syndicate who each won 45.5million last November.
At third place is Glasgow’s Angela Kelly who in August 2007 won £35.4million and at fourth place is an unnamed person who won £26.5million on the same month. In fifth place with their winnings of £26.1million just last month is the Stuart family from Dorking. Brian Caswell comes in at number six with his winnings of £24.9 million last June
A spokesman for the National Lottery mentioned that they are actually waiting to welcome the new millionaire to the millionaires club that has around 2,400 members already. Even before the excitement can die down, another millionaire emerged in last night’s UK Lotto’s Jackpot with a big win of 4.7m. 16, 44, 39, 30, 22, 24 and the bonus number 09, made the winning numbers on Saturday’s draw. The draw machine Arthur and a set of five balls were used to pick the winning numbers. Another jackpot worth £2.4m awaits another lucky punter on Wednesday.
