Money Saving Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

Most people agree that Valentine’s Day is nothing more than a commercialized holiday, but all of us want to take advantage of the opportunity to show our sweetheart how much we care.  If you want to celebrate your love for your significant other, you can do it other ways than the television commercials tell you do it.  You don’t have to buy expensive jewelry, an overpriced meal, a box a calorie filled chocolates, or stuffed animals that will be unused the rest of the year.

Valentine’s Day is like any other holiday; it’s what you make of it.  Valentine’s Day is only commercialized if you allow it to be.  While it can be difficult, you can come up with some creative ways to celebrate the holiday.

Instead of making reservations at the expensive restaurant across town, consider preparing a simple and romantic dinner at home.  You can find many menu ideas online that provide complete recipes, allowing even novices to pull off an impressive fare.

Instead of buying a Hallmark greeting card, consider making one yourself.  Obviously, you don’t want your creation to look like something you made in the fourth grade so look for online tutorials that give precise instructions on how to create a masterpiece that low cost valentines daywill be cherished for years to come.

Rather than buying a dozen very expensive roses from a florist, you can buy flowers from the supermarket and turn them into a stunning bouquet.  If you don’t know anything about floral arrangements, you can find online tutorials that will walk you through the process, step by step.

Instead of a gift card to the local spa, consider creating a coupon book that your sweetheart will love.  Find a template that will allow you to print coupons from your own computer that look great.  Come up with a few things that you can do for your sweetheart like a twenty minute backrub, washing the dishes, or vacuuming the house and make a coupon for each one.  Once the coupons are printed, staple them together, creating a coupon book that will really impress your partner.

These are just a few ideas that you can use to create a Valentine’s Day celebration that will be remembered for many years.  There are many more money saving projects that the average person can complete with relative ease.  There is no reason to spend a ton of money to show your significant other how you feel.  You simply need to make a plan and carry it out.  You may just start a tradition that will be repeated year after year.
