Can You Make Money By Flipping Websites?

Have you heard about website flipping and the stories about people making thousands of dollars per week doing it?  It can’t possibly be true …can it?

The answer is …It is true!  Right now people from all around the globe are selling websites for huge profits.

If you’re completely new to things, let’s look at what website flipping actually is.  It generally means to either buy and sell a website immediately for a profit, or build the site up, making it more profitable for the purpose of selling the site at a hefty profit. It’s just like buying and selling homes, only easier.

As with anything, you should do your research before you enter the world of flipping websites as if you are not careful, you will end up losing a lot of money.

One of the questions I’m sure you are asking is… why would someone want to sell their website if it’s already making them money? Well, there are a lot of website owners out there who do not have a clue about marketing or profiting from their creation.  That’s where you could come in.  If you want to flip sites, you have to know about the ways to monetise a website.

Assuming you have knowledge when it comes to advertising, you can then get the website at a cheap price, monetize it, and sell it at a big profit. There are many ways you can make money from a popular website, such as affiliate marketing, Adsense or even selling your own product or service.

So the owner has claimed that they are getting loads of visitors per month via organic sources?  You should not take their word for it and make sure to verify the websites traffic claims by checking the sites rankings. If you can, you may want to use Skype and use the screen sharing option to view their stats in real time.  This is a reliable way of verifying traffic volumes and sources.

Let’s go back to the research bit.  Before you part with your money, be sure you research the website you are interested in thoroughly. If the type of traffic it is receiving is going to be hard to monetise, you may want to give it a miss.  Even the most creative of marketers can come up against a brick wall when it comes to certain niches.

If you’re completely new to internet marketing and SEO then buying and selling websites may not be for you.  It is not easy to master for someone who is completely new to the game. It will take a lot time and you are sure to make some mistakes along the way.  If you overcome the steep learning curve and stick with it then the world is your Oyster.  When you do master flipping websites, the results can be more than worth it.
